LONG BEACH, Calif. – MMAjunkie.com was on scene for today’s official fighter weigh-ins for Bellator 106, where all six main-card title fighters successfully made weight for Saturday’s card.

In the main event, lightweight champion Michael Chandler puts his title up for grabs against the man he took it from, Eddie Alvarez. In the co-main event, the interim light heavyweight title is on the line as tournament winner Emanuel Newton rematches with the man he beat in the Season 8 semifinals, Muhammed Lawal. And featherweight champ Pat Curran defends his belt against Daniel Straus – also a rematch, but this one from each fighter’s pre-Bellator days.

Alvarez has been sidelined thanks to a contract dispute with Bellator that played out in the courts. But the two sides settled, and the former champ is back in the fold with a title shot thanks to a rematch clauses the promotion instituted earlier this year. Chandler puts the belt up for the third time since taking it from Alvarez. In January, he defended it with a second-round submission of Rick Hawn. In July, he knocked out David Rickels in just 44 seconds.

With 205-pound champ Attila Vegh out with an injury, Bellator put together an interim title fight between Newton and “King Mo.” Newton shocked the MMA world in February by stopping Lawal with a spinning back fist in the first round to reach the Season 8 tournament finals. He then won the tournament to get his title shot. But now it’ll come in a rematch against Lawal for the interim belt, with the winner then fighting Vegh at some point in 2014 to unify the titles. “King Mo” has won two fights since the upset loss.

And Curran defends his 145-pound title for the third time. He beat Patricio Freire by split decision in January, then choked out Shahbulat Shamhalaev in the first round in April. In April 2009, on a card for XFO, his cousin Jeff’s promotion, Curran stopped Straus in the second round to improve to 6-1. Straus will be fighting for the first time in more than a year after being out with a broken hand as well as legal difficulties. He brings a five-fight winning streak into the bout, including a Season 6 tournament win.

Friday’s weigh-ins took place at Long Beach Convention Center. Saturday’s card takes place at Long Beach Arena in California. The five-fight main card airs on Spike TV (9 p.m. ET), while six fights on the preliminary card stream online at Spike.com (7 p.m. ET).
