A lightweight bout between John Makdessi (13-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) and Yancy Medeiros (11-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) is the latest addition to December’s UFC 194 lineup.
The Star Phoenix first reported the bout.
UFC 194 takes place Dec. 12 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card, including featherweight champion Jose Aldo vs. interim titleholder Conor McGregor and middleweight champ Chris Weidman vs. Luke Rockhold, airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. The bout order hasn’t been finalized.
Makdessi returns from a broken jaw he suffered in a recent UFC 187 loss to Donald Cerrone (which he discusses above and recently highlighted on social media). The short-notice bout halted the momentum of a 4-1 stretch that the 30-year-old Canadian put together from 2012 to 2015.
Medeiros, a former Strikeforce fighter, had earned back-to-back wins over Damon Jackson and Joe Proctor before a recent TKO loss to Dustin Poirier. The 27-year-old Hawaiian fighter, who missed weight for the Poirier bout, had earned “Performance of the Night” in the pair of earlier wins.
