Australian light heavyweight Anthony “The Hippo” Perosh won’t have his home crowd behind him on Saturday night, but the 40-year-old will look to build on his three-fight winning streak in the UFC when he faces Octagon newcomer Ryan Jimmo at UFC 149 in Calgary.

Jimmo was unsuccessful in his fight to gain entry to the “The Ultimate Fighter Season 8? house, but since losing his MMA debut, the 30-year-old Canadian has won 15 straight fights and finally gets to make his UFC debut in front of his home fans.

“A fight is a fight,” Perosh said on fighting in front of Jimmo’s home fans. “Fighting in front of your home fans is great, but you also have the added pressure of doing well in front of them.”

Perosh, who is a submission specialist and goes by the saying “position before submission,” will take Jimmo down to the mat whenever possible on Saturday night as he looks to avoid the Canadian’s heavy hands.

“I’ve added a strength and conditioning coach to my team,” Perosh said. “I’ve been focusing on drills and technique, more then sparring this preparation.”

While Jimmo may not be the caliber of fighter that Perosh, who has has peaked at the latter stages of his career, needs to make his way into a shot at UFC champion Jon Jones, the Australian knows full well that a loss to the Canadian would all but dash his dreams.
