When opportunity knocks, Rick Story is ready to answer.
Just days after his win over Thiago Alves at UFC 130, Rick Story has stepped in to replace an injured Anthony Johnson to face Nate Marquardt in the main event of UFC on Versus 4 in Pittsburgh.
The UFC announced the switch on Thursday.
Story has been on a tear through the UFC’s welterweight division lately winning his last 6 fights in a row. After calling for a fight against Thiago Alves, Story got his wish and then proceeded to win a unanimous decision over the former welterweight title contender.
Following that fight Story had asked to face perennial top ten fighter Jon Fitch, but instead gets another top ten opponent in Nate Marquardt.
Marquardt will drop down to 170lbs for the first time after being among the best at 185lbs for many years.
The welterweights will square off in the main event of UFC on Versus 4 in Pittsburgh’s Consol Energy Center on Sunday, June 26.
As for original opponent Anthony Johnson the UFC has stated he was injured, but no details on the nature of his injury or when he’ll be able to return to action.
