SAN ANTONIO – After outpointing Andrew Craig on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 44, Cezar Ferreira still wants a rematch with the last man to beat him in the octagon.
“They asked me before who I would really like to fight if I win this one,” he told MMAjunkie. “I said I’d like to have a rematch with C.B. Dollaway. Not that I’m a bad loser or anything – he won it – but I wasn’t really on my game that day, so I’d like to have another chance.”
Ferreira (8-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC) first needed to get back on the winning track after falling to Dollaway’s punches in March. Although Craig (9-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC) gave him a run for his money in the third round of their fight, rocking him with a head kick and punches, Ferreira dominated grappling exchanges in the early rounds. The fight aired live on FOX Sports 1 at AT&T Center in San Antonio (watch the Ferreira vs. Craig video highlights).
“I tried to control the fight, and at the very end, Andrew did a turnaround,” Ferreira said. “So I just tried to maintain my distance and hang in there.”
Craig was badly bloodied by the end of the fight from a cut sustained earlier in the action. Cameras revealed a deep gash in his forehead.
Ferreira, the winner of the inaugural season of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil,” now stands at 4-1 in the octagon. What he can’t boast in his current situation is a ranking higher than Dollaway, who recently told MMAjunkie that he’s gunning for high-profile opponents.
Ferreira, though, said he would beat “The Ultimate Fighter 7? veteran 11 times if they fought 10.
Now, it’s up for the UFC to decide if Ferreira should get a rematch so soon after such a decisive outcome in the first fight. History says the answer is no, but stranger things have happened.view original article >>
