After Rousey criticism, McGregor says Trump 'can shut his big, fat mouth'

If he were a U.S. citizen, it’s a safe bet Irishman Conor McGregor wouldn’t be voting for Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump.

Arriving in Los Angeles, an X17online videographer asked the UFC interim featherweight champion about Trump’s recent criticism of Ronda Rousey, who lost her women’s bantamweight title at UFC 193 earlier this month.

Trump, the outspoken businessman and TV host, criticized Rousey (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) immediately after her second-round head-kick loss to Holly Holm (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) in the Nov. 14 event’s pay-per-view headliner (via Twitter):

“It’s easy for someone that’s not in there to comment, but it’s different when you’re in there,” McGregor said. “The emotions are high, so it is what it is. Either you want to touch gloves or don’t. That means nothing.

“So Donald can shut his big, fat mouth. I don’t give a f-ck about Donald Trump.”

He also had some words of encouragement for Rousey, who’s been heavily mocked since that crushing title loss to heavy underdog Holm.

“Defeat is the secret ingredient to success,” McGregor said. “The true champions can conquer that, overcome it and come back. So I wish her all the best.”

Up next for interim titleholder McGregor (18-2 MMA, 6-0 UFC) is a title-unification bout with long-reigning featherweight champ Jose Aldo (25-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC). The bout serves as the pay-per-view headliner of UFC 194 on Dec. 12 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.
