Adrian Pang Looking to Extend Winning Streak at ONE: Heroes of the World

At one time it appeared as if lightweight veteran Adrian Pang’s career was over due to injury, but instead of moving on, he buckled down and has since kept fighting and has gone undefeated in his last three bouts.

“I am currently riding a three-fight win streak since I suffered that horrific injury where I was told I would never fight again,” Pang told MMAWeekly.com. “I have since stopped all three of my opponents inside the distance, two of them inside the first round.

“I have won seven of my last eight fights, and that loss was a split decision to former champion Jadamba Narantungalag. I feel I am a wiser fighter than I used to be, and like a fine wine am only getting better with age.”

Having fought consistently in his native Australia and across Asia for 15 years, Pang continues to fight at a high level for far longer than he initially thought he would.

“Originally when I started I just wanted to test myself and have fun,” he said. “I have always been a martial artist, and I never expected that in 15 years I would still be competing and winning several national and international titles along the way.

“I guess over this time my game has evolved considerably, and so has the level of competition. People aren’t ignorant to the effectiveness of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu anymore, so everyone is well versed in the ground game nowadays.”

Pang (22-8-2) will seek out his fourth win in a row when he takes on fellow veteran Eduard Folayang (15-5) in a 155-pound main card bout at ONE: Heroes of the World on Saturday in Macau, China.

“Eduard Folayang is a very tough and skilled fighter,” said Pang. “We have been on the Asian circuit for some time together and have crossed paths on events we have both fought on.

“He is from a very good team, and we both prefer to strike with our opponents, so I feel the fans will enjoy the combative display we both put on come Aug. 13.”

When it comes to the remainder of 2016, Pang is looking to meet any challenge that’s presented to him, while at the same time enjoying his time outside the cage with his family.

“There have been a few delays this year, and I have been preparing to fight once ONE could match me,” he said. “Preparation is the key to success so with adequate notice to train specifically for a fight I can always be ready.

“After this fight I look forward to spending more time with my wife and two children, as training takes up a lot of precious time that I miss with them. I plan on taking them all on holidays somewhere nice once I win the 50-grand warrior bonus ONE offers.”
