It’s UFC fight week, and on Saturday, notable vets Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson meet in a rubber match that’s nearly a decade in the making.
UFC Fight Night 77 takes place Saturday at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo. Following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass, the rest of the Brazilian card airs on FOX Sports 1.
In the middleweight headliner, Belfort (24-11 MMA, 13-7 UFC), who avenged a 2006 PRIDE FC loss to Henderson (31-13 MMA, 8-7 UFC), looks to make it two in a row against “Hendo.” Henderson, who’s ranked No. 14 in the NOS Energy Drink MMA middleweight rankings, earned a decision victory in their initial meeting, but in 2013, No. 5-ranked Belfort got his revenge with a head-kick knockout at UFC Fight Night 32.
With Henderson recently turning 45 and Belfort now 38, this is likely the final meeting between the former big-show champs, who are likely entering the twilight of their careers.
In the co-headliner, No. 7-ranked light heavyweight Glover Teixeira (23-4 MMA, 6-2 UFC) meets No. 15-ranked Patrick Cummins (8-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC).
Rounding out the main card are No. 15-ranked bantamweight Thomas Almeida (20-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) vs. Anthony Birchak (12-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC), lightweights Piotr Hallmann (15-4 MMA, 2-3 UFC) vs. Alex Oliveira (12-2-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC), lightweights Gilbert Burns (10-0 MMA 3-0 UFC) vs. Rashid Magomedov (19-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC), and honorable-mention light heavyweight Corey Anderson (6-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) vs. Fabio Maldonado (22-8 MMA, 5-5 UFC).
