After this past weekend’s UFC doubleheader, the organization returns Saturday with “UFC Fight Night 42: Henderson vs. Khabilov.”
The event, which marks the organization’s New Mexico debut, takes place at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque. Following a single preliminary-card bout on UFC Fight Pass, the remaining 10 fights head to FOX Sports 1.
In the headliner, former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson (20-3 MMA, 8-2 UFC) looks to build off a recent split-decision win over ex-Strikeforce titleholder Josh Thomson. “Smooth” is trying to continue his run back to a title shot when he meets rising contender Rustam Khabilov (17-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC), who’s won six straight, including three consecutive bouts in the UFC.
In the co-headliner, Albuquerque native and former UFC title challenger Diego Sanchez (24-7 MMA, 13-7 UFC) hopes to avoid the first three-fight losing skid of his career when he meets Ross Pearson (15-6 MMA, 7-3 UFC), who’s 2-0 (with one no-contest) since returning to the lightweight division.
