nate-diaz-tuf-18-finaleThe Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale took place Saturday in Las Vegas with Nate Diaz (17-9 MMA, 12-7 UFC) avenging his 2010 loss to Gray Maynard (11-3-1 MMA, 9-3-1 UFC) with a memorable first-round TKO.

It was a vintage Diaz performance as the “TUF 5? winner dissected Maynard with an onslaught of pinpoint volume striking until “The Bully” was out on his feet and the referee intervened.

The event also brought an end to the latest season of the organization’s long-running reality show as Chris Holdsworth (5-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and Julianna Pena (5-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) were crowned the 30th and 31st “TUF” winners.

It was a particularly monumental moment for Pena, who etched her name in history as the first female “TUF” champion. That’s just one of few facts to come out of the UFC’s latest event.

With the help of FightMetric‘s research analyst and live statistics producer Michael Carroll, here are 30 post-fight facts produced by Saturday’s TUF 18 Finale.

GENERAL

Total fight time for the 10-bout card was 1:39:43.

Betting favorites went 7-3 on the card.

Holdsworth, Diaz and Ryan Benoit earned TUF 18 Finale fight-night bonuses.

The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale drew an announced attendance of 4,346 for a live gate of $322,742.50.

Team Tate went 2-0 against Team Rousey in the “TUF 18? finals.

According to MMADecisions.com, Mario Yamasaki became the first referee to be involved in three UFC disqualifications.

Seven of the 10 winners on the card earned their first career UFC victory.

MAIN CARD

Diaz earned his first knockout victory since March 27, 2010 – a span of 1,344 days (nearly four years) and nine fights.

Diaz’s victory at 2:38 of Round 1 was the quickest of his UFC career.

Diaz’s 33 significant strikes landed moved him to a total of 801 in his UFC career, which is the eighth most in UFC history.

Diaz became the sixth fighter in UFC history to earn 10 lightweight victories.

Diaz recorded his first knockout in those 10 lightweight wins.

Diaz’s eighth knockout or submission victories in the UFC lightweight division are tied with Kenny Florian for the third most ever. Joe Lauzon and B.J. Penn lead the category with nine finishes each.

Diaz’s 12 UFC victories are the fourth most by any “TUF” winner.

Diaz’s 11 career UFC post-fight bonuses are the third most in organizational history. Anderson Silva and Lauzon lead the category with 12 bonuses each.

Maynard has lost back-to-back fights for the first time in his career and has just one victory in his past five UFC appearances.

Maynard has been knocked out in all three of his professional defeats.

Pena earned her first knockout victory since Aug. 15, 2009 – a span of 1,568 days (more than four years) and five fights.

Pena became the eighth fighter in UFC history to record a knockout at the 4:59 mark of Round 1.

Holdsworth has earned all five of his career victories by submission. He has never gone past the second round in any of his combined amateur, “TUF” or professional fights.

Davey Grant (8-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has been submitted in both of his professional defeats.

Jessamyn Duke‘s (3-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) 123 significant strikes landed marked a new UFC record for a debuting fighter.

Raquel Pennington (4-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) snapped a two-fight losing streak for her first professional victory since September 2012.

Roxanne Modafferi (15-11 MMA, 0-1 UFC) suffered her sixth consecutive MMA defeat. She has not recorded a professional MMA victory since May 2010.

PRELIMINARY CARD

Akira Corassani (12-3 MMA, 3-0 UFC) is the only fighter from “TUF 14? with an undefeated UFC record. Ten fighters from season 14 are currently signed to the UFC roster.

Maximo Blanco (9-5-1 MMA, 1-2 UFC) fell to 1-3 in his past four UFC/Strikeforce fights.

Corassani vs. Blanco was the first UFC fight to end by disqualification since Patrick Cote vs. Alessio Sakara at UFC 154.

Tom Niinimaki (21-5-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) extended his career-high winning streak to 12 fights.

Walt Harris (6-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has been defeated by decision in both of his career losses.

Ryan Benoit (7-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) was submitted for the first time in his 10-fight career.
