10 Bouts Official for Dec. 4 Strikeforce

Strikeforce today added a pair of bouts to the undercard of its Dec. 4 “Henderson vs. Babalu” event, set to take place at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo.

Four Missouri-based fighters will square off in the newly-announced contests, as Lee Brousseau (Pictured) meets Mike Glenn at light heavyweight, and Ben Brown faces the debuting J.W. Wright in a 130-pound catch-weight affair.

Submitted via rear-naked choke in 87 seconds by Francisco “Kiko” France on the undercard of Strikeforce’s last St. Louis show in May, Brown subsequently bounced back with a quick submission win of his own at a local event in August.

“I'm absolutely looking to make amends on Dec. 4,” the Matt Hughes-trained Brown stated in a press release issued on Tuesday. “Honestly, I just got caught. I'd love to have a rematch. I don't talk down to anybody and have respect for everybody that does what we do, but I don't feel he is that much better than me. It just turned out he took advantage of an opportunity before I could.”

His opponent, Glenn, will be taking to the big stage for the first time in his three-year career, having lost four of his last five bouts.

A black belt under Royler Gracie, the 34-year-old Wright will look to carry his success on the mat into the cage as he faces Brown, an instructor at the local Finney’s MMA gym.

“I know Brown is a well-rounded MMA fighter and solid in all the disciplines,” said Wright. “He'll obviously be a tough opponent. But I'm definitely prepared. I've competed all my life.”

Headlining the Showtime-broadcast card is a 205-pound rematch between former two-division Pride champion Dan Henderson and ex-Strikeforce champ Renato “Babalu” Sobral. The pair previously met in the finals of the 1999 Rings King of Kings tournament, with Henderson eking out a majority decision. “Hendo” will attempt to rebound from a five-round unanimous decision loss to then-Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields in April, while Sobral looks to follow up on his June decision win over Robbie Lawler.

On the televised undercard, British knockout artist Paul Daley takes on the similarly heavy-handed Scott Smith in a welterweight bout, while former EliteXC heavyweight champion Antonio Silva meets Valentijn Overeem, older brother of Strikeforce heavyweight champ Alistair Overeem. UFC veterans Matt Lindland and Robbie Lawler will square off at middleweight, while football legend Herschel Walker makes his second MMA appearance against the Californian heavyweight Scott Carson.

Also featured on the undercard is a trio of bouts featuring fighters from the Sherdog Fighter Exchange Program. Fellow Exchange Program members Fernando Bettega and Wayne Phillips will tussle at welterweight, while lightweight Max Martyniouk and middleweight Patrick Durkin Cummins will make their MMA debuts against Justin Lawrence and Terrell Brown, respectively.
