All fighters who underwent drug testing earlier this month at UFC on FX 8 passed their tests.
The UFC and Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA), the local governing body, today announced the results.
UFC on FX 8 took place May 18 at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The main card aired on FX following prelims on FUEL TV and Facebook.
In the headliner, Vitor Belfort blasted final Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold via first-round knockout, which was set up by a highlight-reel spinning high kick. Additionally, Ronaldo Souza made a successful promotional debut and quickly submitted fellow middleweight Chris Camozzi in the co-headliner.
“The UFC has been informed by CABMMA that all fighters on the UFC on FX 8 card passed their pre- and post-fight drug tests,” today’s announcement read. “The UFC fully supports the drug testing efforts of all regulatory agencies. All fighters are drug tested at every event and the organization maintains a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents.”
All fighters tested negative for anabolic steroids and performance-enhancing drugs, as well as recreational drugs such marijuana and cocaine.
CABMMA, a member of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation, began regulating UFC events earlier this year. However, UFC on FX 8 marked the first show in which CABMMA oversaw the drug testing.
Earlier this year, the regulatory body confirmed it had granted Belfort a therapeutic-use exemption for testosterone-replacement therapy. To date he’s the only fighter to ask CABMMA for an exemption.
