Spivak is the thicker man who has built up muscle over the course of his career and has filled out at the heavyweight division. He may also have been the stronger fighter in the beginning.

Gane, however, is the athlete who is taller, longer, and much faster. The Frenchman will search for a residence outside the octagon so he can use his range weapons to eliminate Spivak.

Gane fights behind a sharp jab and piercing teep kicks to establish his range, using his length as effectively as any other fighter in the division.

In both the distance striking and the pocket, where he can look to sit down on counters against a striker who is much less technical and dangerous than the last couple of bouts, his advantage should be obvious.

Gane has outclassed a number of power punchers( Jairzinho Rozenstruil, Derrick Lewis, Tai Tuivasa), as well as high-volume strikers( Alexnder Volkov), but he has also faced off against well-rounded champions like Jones and Ngannou, who could pose an immediate threat to him in MMA.

Gane hasn't encountered Spivak, a pure grappler. However, I anticipate that Gane will have much more success using his wrestling defense against a one-dimensional fighter than if he engages in grappling with an opponent who is too preoccupied with his elite striking defense( 62% career).

Spivak has probably grown accustomed to the small 25-foot Apex cage rather than the regular-sized octagon he'll see on Saturday because it has allowed him to fight in five of his previous six bouts.

When Spivak tries to cut off the cage and close the distance to start grappling exchanges, the typical UFC octagon gives him less room for error. He might find it challenging to locate Gane and position himself in a clinch to start takedowns.

Spivak may not be able to grapple Gane, a muay Thai specialist with excellent clinch work, at all in this fight because he relies on upper-body takedowns and judo throws rather than the double-leg style wrestling Ngannou used.

Gane should be able to quickly scramble back to his feet even if Spivak does land takedowns early. Even after getting his opponents off-balance, Spivak typically doesn't end up in excellent control positions; instead, he simply hangs onto their wrists and continues until they are exhausted.

Spivak may be able to obtain a submission or positional TKO if he can apply that early pressure and break Gane's spirit through grappling. However, once you take over those control positions, you will find it difficult to shake him off.

However, Spivak also has a propensity to give in to pressure, and even for the heavyweight division, he may have below-average durability.

Binary matchups typically end quickly, and the winner will frequently have appeared to be the clear favorite in retrospect.

However, it's important to note that Gane is the much more likely minute-winner in a 25-minute fight than he is against Spivak or almost any other heavyweight on the planet.
