(BJJ) Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu's REAL NAME IS: Kano Ryu Jiu-Jitsu.
What Maeda taught the Gracies was pre WWII Judo AKA Kano Ryu Jiu-jitsu, named after Judo's founder Kano who himself was a master jiu-jitsu practitioner. He combined his style of jiu-jitsu with the Fusen Ryu style, whose founder (ONE OF THE LAST SAMURAIS) modified the standing submissions to ground close in subs NOW THAT SAMURAIS WERE NO LONGER ALLOWED TO CARRY THEIR KATANAS - thereby reducing the chances of getting cut by their own swords and knives .
KANO CALLED HIS ART...KANO RYU JIU-JITSU.
It was not until after WWII that Kano, attempted to soften his art and changed the name to Judo, in order to be accepted as a legitimate sport in the olympics. THIS IS WHY THE BRAZILLIANS, STILL, CALL IT JIU-JITSU. it is known as Kosen Judo in Japan.
Maeda, who was the first real MMA fighter fought wrestlers and boxers all over the world...de-emphasized the take downs and flying arm bars...AND THIS IS WHY ANDERSON HAS SO MUCH TROUBLE WITH WRESTLING TAKE DOWNS. A REAL SAMURAI WOULD TAKE MOST ANY WRESTLER DOWN WITH RELATIVE EASE.
THIS IS WHY THE BRAZILLIANS CALL IT, SIMPLY, JIU-JITSU
IN BRAZIL...THERE ARE, STILL, MANY NON GRACIE LINEAGE JIU-JITSU MASTERS...ALL OF THEM PRACTICE THE SAME SAMURAI PRE WWII JUDO
* HERE IS THE REASON WHY THE BRAZILLIANS CALL IT JIU-JITSU, WHEN THEIR FOUNDER MAEDA WAS REGISTERED AS A 5TH DEGREE BLACKBELT IN JUDO'S KUDOKAN...AND WHY HELIO GRACIE TESTED FOR AND IS REGISTERED IN THE KUDOKAN, AS A 3RD DEGREE BLACK BELT IN JUDO

Can the Gracie family please stop reproducing at exponentially faster rates? They are almost like bacteria. No wonder they need more students, every day 5 new Gracie's are born.

LOL! Yeah right… did you saw Silva at the start of every round? He was as good as new!
Silva did less than 50 punches in whole fight, Sonnen did over 200 punches… and Sonnen’s face was smashed up like a potatoe, while Silva… well, was he even hurt?
Seriously, Silva promised to the Nogueiras that he was going to win the fight with a submission (he got the black belt from them not long ago), and he did. He could stand any takedown attempt by Sonnen, and more than once you can see Silva literally “sitting” while Sonnen is giving him a hug.
Silva knew he could win, and he did it when he felt it was time to just go get the check. He’s the man, he’s the best P4P, and not this fight nor any other in the future, will change the fact that Sonnen was demolished while Silva was as good as new.
Funny how Sonnen tapped 3 times and then complained he didn't do it... oh man...
