TV - UFC 155 - Dos Santos vs. Velasquez 2 -
A lightweight matchup between Michael Johnson (12-6 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and Myles Jury (10-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) is now official for December's UFC 155 event.
UFC officials recently confirmed the booking, which was originally reported in October.
UFC 155 takes place Dec. 29 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main event is a heavyweight title fight rematch between champion Junior Dos Santos and ex-titleholder Cain Velasquez, which headlines the pay-per-view portion of the show.
Johnson vs. Jury is expected be part of the evening's preliminary card, which FX and Facebook carry.
Johnson is coming off a come-from-behind win over Danny Castillo at October's UFC on FX event 5 in Minneapolis. Despite Castillo dropping him in the first round, Johnson rallied in the second for a knockout victory. The KO earned him a $40,000 "Knockout of the Night" bonus, his first in the UFC.
Johnson has won three straight fights since a 1-2 start to his career. "The Ultimate Fighter 12 " runner-up beat Shane Roller by unanimous decision at UFC on FOX 2 in January and then outpointed "TUF 13" winner Tony Ferguson at UFC on FOX 3 in May.
Jury got his UFC start on "TUF 13," but an injury took him off the show after one episode. He returned this past spring, though, for "TUF 15." And though his opening-round fight resulted in a loss to eventual runner-up Al Iaquinta, Jury got a shot at the TUF Live Finale in June. And he took advantage.
Jury stopped fellow Californian and "TUF" housemate Chris Saunders with a first-round guillotine choke. The win kept him unbeaten as a pro through 10 fights – all by first-round stoppage. At four minutes and three seconds long, it was by far the longest fight of Jury's career, which includes seven wins in less than 90 seconds, many coming in KOTC.
