I saw this one coming more than a year ago. I was surprised that people didn't start talking about it sooner. As soon as I heard that Frankie didn't cut weight to make 155, I thought that Jose Aldo would surely fight him, although I originally thought it might have happened at 155 for the belt. It would have been nice to see both fighters fight without having to cut much weight.

The bottom line is that Frankie is the most accomplished fighter that Aldo will have ever faced, and it makes perfect sense to give Frankie the immediate title shot. If Aldo can beat Frankie, maybe we'll see him step up to challenge for the lightweight title. And yes, I'd bet on Aldo so long as he's healthy. His striking is just spectacular, and he's got great all around skills and athleticism.
