i think we can all agree that no matter what kind of glove Bas Rutten is wearing...we would not want to be on the recieving end of it. Imagine how much force his kicks can generage!!!

you can't boil "hitting harder" down to pounds of force. The kind of gloves changes how the force is applied. Does anybody here think that wearing a bullet proof vest works because it reduces the force of impact? It works because it spreads the force out, and because it can prevent penetration. It's the same thing with mma gloves, they can allow a more focused force that can break the skin, or break bones or other things more easily, not to mention hurt more.

It's more tiring to have heavier gloves in a fight. Sometimes boxers negotiate over glove size for fights. At that level they probably can really feel the difference on their hands.

Doyle150, your right. But it has to be taken into consideration that while the MMA gloves hit marginally harder, there pound per sqaure inch is much greater due to a smaller surface area which would create a bigger impact and more damage. The surface area of the boxing glove is alot greater which would space the impact out over a much larger area.

Of course they don't hit harder, maybe they should have tested pounds per square inch since that's where the difference is. Seems like all the "science and learning" channels have dummied down to impossible lows--maybe they need a few more shows about crab fishing and logging.
