It's been 4 years since Rich Franklin last competed at 185lbs, but when he got the call from UFC matchmaker Joe Silva asking if he'd like to face former Strikeforce champion Cung Le at UFC 148 his eyes lit up.
Franklin was widely recognized as the top middleweight in the world for a long time until Anderson Silva came on the scene and after two losses to the current UFC champ, the Cincinnati native decided to move onto the light heavyweight division and some catchweight fights instead.
But as he returns from shoulder surgery last year, Franklin is looking at the middleweight division with renewed interest and he's ready to make one more charge at regaining the 185lb belt.
it starts with his fight against Cung Le at UFC 148.
