Interviews - MMABay sat down for a very special EXCLUSIVE interview with K-1 World Grand-Prix champion, Alistair Overeem this afternoon to talk to him about the situation surrounding his mixed martial arts career. Not only does he address his recent axe from the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix but he tells us that if the UFC offer him a lucrative enough deal he'd love to walk away from all his other interests and immediately compete for the UFC heavyweight title.

He is a good fighter but velasquez or dos santos punching power/accuracy is way greater lol ive seen alistairs older fights where he fought better strong hitting strikers...his chin isnt that great...i would even say that velasquez and dos santos have way better cardio...he would get put to sleep.

Alistar is definatly a top 10 MMA fighter so he should be fighting in the top MMA promotion.i'm not sure he could win the UFC belt but he should get to fight some of the top guys for sure.golden glory & the UFC would be stupid not to get a deal done,it's what the fans want.

after the JDS-Vaelsquez fight i cant think of anyone who deserves the next titleshot, maybe Schaub if he can beat Big Nog.So maybe Overeem whould be the logical next titlecontender.

i think overeem is really full of himself, hes a good fighter but lacks humility, so id really like to watch him get whooped by velasquez or dos santos (wich by the way i think are better fighters and better people).

I like Cain's chances against Ubereem, but really I just want to see him fight a top guy in the UFC. I want to see if this guy is really Uber or just Overee-ated.

Overeem getting an immediate UFC title shot actually makes better business sense than having him work up to a title shot. Right now, there's no clear next contender for the HW title after JDS. Carwin lost too recently to be given an immediate title shot, and noone else is really that deserving of it at this point.

So the UFC should leverage the fact that Overeem is the champion of all these other organizations to sell the immediate title shot. If they don't give him an immediate shot and match him up against a grappler, his weaknesses might get exposed and then the HW division would be searching for a good contender again. Even a poor man's wrestler like Kongo could possibly expose Overeem's ground weakness. The only fighters I would consider letting him "work his way up" against, would be "pure" strikers like Barry, Struve, CroCop (if a win over CroCop is still worth anything). JDS would be too dangerous.

Overeem should defenitely fight for the UFC. Maybe he should have 1 or 2 fights before he gets the Title shot.
