this is mma; not bjj... even though overeem played it safe by not jumping into the guard (like Sir Fedor)he was agressive... werdums striking looked good... but it looked more like the reem couldnt care less, that is why he ate those punches... and won...

Whoever the idiots are who said " Alistair Overeem " is the best pound for pound fighter and could fight in UFC needs to get educated. Cain, Frank Mir, Junior Dos, maybe even Shane Carwin or Brock could kill this guy easy... He is nowhere near impressive to me. Again, this is just my opinion, but he is not ready for the top UFC fighters.

Hey Enferno, all those UFC fighter you mention combined haven't fought as many times as Overeem,
If i see Cain fights another 36 times (mma not even K1), and end up with a record as good as Overeems or Fedors you might open your mouth again.

Weredum is to blame for the lack of real action in this fight. Every time Reem want to fight Werdum goes to the ground and waste time. If you deduct the time it took for Werdum to stand up , there is no much left in the round.Werdum has a game plan which is to spoil the fight and frustrate Overeem but he forgot that he will never get a big fight with Dana white watching his antics. The real deal are fighting in the UFC.

some rules need to be changed, some fighters simply spoil the whole fight... this way this sport will lose lot of fans.... u only have 15 mins n if u r gonna waist 10 for just lying on the ground begging other fighter to come n hug u its not worth watching....

i blame the lack of cardio based on these guys havent fought in what seemed forever but seriosuly its been awhile sense both these guys fought and overeem was throwing werdum around with power throws from the start and swinging with power shots while werdum kept dragging the fight to the ground.

and for future refrence werdum wasnt kicked out the ufc, he left cause dana wouldnt give him what he wanted.

The cardio of the reem is a big problem that can aspecially give him problems against barnett (intelligent fighter) and JDS or even more so Cain (both good stamina, Cain excellent even).

But lets be serious here;

Werdum is a f*ck*n w*nk*r for spoiling the game of MMA like this. MMA stands for MIXED martial arts. So not only a BJJ match. The guy was trying to agitate Alistair and it was a good tactic that worked but was despicable to watch furthermore he was a sneaky m*th*rf*ck*r that was trying to get some punches in while the ref was still in between. Mr. Fabricio "suckerpunch" Werdum should be ashamed of his performance.

This kind of behavior is actually really typical for mr. Suckerpunch as when you look at interviews after the Fedor fight he is saying he wanted Fedor to believe he was hurt.. It's tactical and all but just disgusting to see and even more to be bragging about it in the media. Go back to where you belong: BJJ, a true master in that department, MMA is just not for him.

On all that are hating on Alistair I say;

Hey fought a good fight with landing clear clean punches and knees, when you got an opponent like Mr. Suckerpunch you cannot be blamed for that. The cardio as earlier stated is a bit of a problem that he has to work on but he is going to have a lot of good fights in the future. Ranking him #1 is stretching it but he is a definite #5 guy, anybody denying that: BRING YOUR ARGUMENTS (please don't do the old boring stories of that he hasn't fought big names..)

Antonio "big foot" Silva, watch out, cardio with you is not gonna be a problem..

Elaborating on Alistair being a #5 heavyweight;

My top 10;

1. Cain
2. JDS
3. Brock/Carwin
4. Mir
5. Overeem

I see Barnett belonging in these rankings as well but he needs to prove himself to me more in this tournament. Definite #10 ranking for him though..

what a joke, how could overeem win that he did nothing. Werdum landed more strikes, attempted more takedowns and dfinished with an attempted submission. Overeem walked around throwing haymakers that didn't land. Joke
