The commentators showed a lot of bias on this fight. Alot of the "WOAH AWESOME LEG KICK WOAH SWEET PUNCHES"
Were not thrown as well as they were screamed over. On the 5th round when Rua throws the elbow/right hook combo for example..the elbow skims off Lyotos forearm and the punch hits with only the pinky finger. They are not solid blows.
Rua did throw some badass kicks though, but the rest of his attacks never really hit their mark, hit wrongly, hit weakly or skimmed off.
Lyoto won because of his violent flurrys of attacks, his knees, his own leg kicks etc.
Lyoto won, but barely. It was a hard fight.
You wanna know the real reason Dana White/the commentators etc are all pissing about this fight? Because they want to make money..and a Silva vs Rua fight would make alot of it. The judges are not biased and are motivated to be fair..they're supposed to be that way. They saw how the fight really was, the other guys saw the fight how they wished it could be so they could get the fight they're all wet over.
I guarentee a judge or two got fired for not keeping in line with the corporate directives.

Im with you Ryan, the fight was obviously won by Machida. Rua was not aggressive enough, he didn't use his hands much and decided to stay away from Machida as much as possible. He had a strategy to beat his legs up and he stuck by it. However, in order to beat the champion you have to demonstrate you are better in every facet. Rua could not take machida down, even when he slipped and fell he couldn't keepp him on the floor. Machida was obviously hurt by the leg kicks but he is a human. All in all, machida was more aggressive and held good, not excellent, octagon control.
I truly believe that Dana and the commentators acted as if Machida had stolen the fight to build up the rematch. It was close but the Danas' strategy is sure to fil the arenas in May. Rematch: Rua will continue to beat the legs but Machida will be significantly more aggressive. I predict a win by KO in the 3 round by the Dragon.

without a doubt shogun won pretty much every round.....but still the most boring fighter in the ufc still holds the belt. Everyone can talk about how classy a fighter is or how technical they are...but when it comes down to their supposed to be fighters and i dont know maybe entertain us so we get are moneys worth out of the pay per views. anyone notice that he can't finish half his fights like for a light heavy weight u shouldn't have that many fights end in decision. all he does is dance around tryin to hold hands with his opponent the entire time. THESE ARE THE KINDA FIGHTS THAT MAKE PPL CALL UFC GAY. Get some real fighters in their that aren't afraid to take a hit. They make it seem as if the ufc is modern day gladiators but most fights with machida just put me to sleep because i've seen more action from the care bears.

dude, don't blame him for not finishing his fights, blame his opponents, no one can bring him down or knock him out, and he has KOed one of the best, only dumb fighters fight recklessly and end up being the ones getting knocked out, you see it pays to be technical and patient, you get rewarded, the reason his fights don't finish is because the time runs out.
By the way, MMA is a sport dude, and in most sports the the goal is to win, and thats what machida has done. None of his opponents fight against him recklessly because they know they could get knocked the fuck out like rashad did. Machida has done enough to become Champion.
Also the ufc is gay, they bought out pride, and put in abunch of pussy rules, you can't even kick the head of a grounded opponent, that takes away a shitload of offense for strikers, Fuck the UFC.
