MACHIDA AND SHOGUN ARE MY FAVORITE FIGHTERS AND I WILL ADMITT THAT I WASN'T A MACHIDA FAN UNTIL HIS FIGHT WITH SOKODJOU. I HAVE TO GO WITH SHOGUN THOUGH BECAUSE HE'S BEEN MY BOY FOR YEARS, SO GO SHOGUN!...I BELIEVE THIS FIGHT WILL BE A WAR;AT LEAST 3 ROUNDS LONG. Who has Shogun fought who is so much more impressive than Rich Franklin, Tito Ortiz, BJ Penn, or Rashad? On one hand, I agree Machida hasn't fought too many people worth mentioning, but it was when Machida fought them that the majority of his opponents were shown to be overrated.

Shogun beat Rampage, Antônio Rogério Nogueira, Ricardo Arona and Kevin Randleman. Even though those fighters may have decent records and have had some entertaining fights I wouldn't really call any of them stellar except Nog (which is giving Nog a lot of credit considering how not well rounded he is). He has also lost to Sobral, Coleman and Griffin. These guys are all good, but not nearly the best and highlight a major deficiency in Rua's game. Barely winning a rematch against a 49 year old Coleman, whom was never that great doesn't inspire confidence.

I agree with the complaints about the Machida bandwagon jumpers, mainly because I stopped being able to make easy money off all the suckers who hadn't heard of him or thought "all you have to do is chase him down and stay aggressive and Machida will fold like a cheap lawn chair."

well, comparing what happened years ago in the past to the present seems senile to me...shogun beat rampage in the past, so did wandelei silva....looked what happened to wanderlei recently when his head collided with rampage's fist...what I am saying is some fighters improve or find the right camps, and others deteriorate..I think this fight is meant to be a gimme win for machida, so he makes his first title defence, but I think shogun might surprise everyone, as he was injured in his recent lack lustre fights,.so say what you want, but dont bring situations in the distant past to explain current situations, lets have intelligent conversation here and leave out the nonsense.

Man you need to STFU, you just cant accept the fact that Brazilians dominate the UFC, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is better than ANY UFC american light heavyhweight fighter. Chuck Liddel got lucky that he was a UFC fighter instead of a PRIDE fighter. Chuck Liddell in pride wouldnt have been a champion in any division. You woundt call Rampaje Nogueira, and Arona top fighters????? THEN WHO would you call a top fighter. Shogun didnt fight for almost 2 years when he fought griffin and coleman not to mention it was his first 2 fights in the octagon. In my opinion Shogun should be the champ right now. Also MMA MATH DOES NOT WORK. LOL you probably think that Couture is the best huh?. Rogerio Nogueira not a well round fighter? He has the BEST ground game in his divison, and his boxing is world class, He won in Brazil in a boxing tournament and he got a bronze medal in the Pan American Tournament. Remembe these Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will eventually get a title shot and he might just win. Also Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Might become the UFC Heavyweight Champ. Thiago SIlva will own Rashad in UFC 108. and I will come and talk more shit about it.

Whoever says lyoto still hasnt been tested are wrong he fought rich franklin which was da middle weight champion whooped rashad evans ass won by decision agaisnt bj penn which makes 3 champions hes faced plus he ko'd da shyt out of thiago silva who was also undefeated so in short this fight is gonna be a close fight but the best will win which i say is lyoto then again shogun is gonna be a tough contender

That was me. And yeah, he beat Franklin, I'll give him that. BJ Penn? I'm sorry, Penn was 170lbs and Machida was a heavyweight. Yes, a heavyweight. 220lbs. And who has Rashad beaten? Chuck Liddell? Forrest Griffin? Forrest doesn't have a very impressive resume either and Shogun would destroy him if they fought again. Thiago Silva? Who has Thiago beaten? Jardine? Who has Jardine beaten? Those are just a lot of popular names made famous by TUF who don't have as impressive of a resume as people make them out to.

I still don't think he's been tested like an in shape, healthy Shogun will test him. Both are still great fighters, though. We'll see what happens.

isnt heavyweight 235 but could be diff for that certain organization I understand what youre saying but come on you gotta give credit where credit is due i mean thiago silva didnt fight no big names except houston alexander which was kind of big (kinda)but for only 4 of all his fights to go beyond the first round the man is very dangerous but like i said im kind of hoping for machida to win but shogun is a beast i was disappointed to see him loose to coleman at pride because of the injury he suffered but i was happy when he beat the crud out of him at their rematch at ufc long story short rooting for machida but either fighter like in all fights can come out the winner we'll just have to wait and see.

HW is 206-265. And I see what you're saying but in comparison to the people Shogun fought in Pride, Machida has not fought that level of competition.

My main thing is the Machida bandwagon lately. Just watch anything before the Thiago fight and he got booed repeatedly by EVERYne. Now that he's the champion EVERYONE will say they've been a fan for years. It's really annoying me. I like machida, not as much as Shogun, but I do like him. It's just the bandwagon of Machida nut huggers saying he's unbeatable.

If Shogun wins, I'm going to LMFAO @ how many people jump on the bandwagon when clearly a very small percentage of people are actually giving him a shot.
