Undefeated, top prospect Phil Hawes (4-0) made a quick turnaround and returned to the Decagon just six weeks after his promotional debut, when he squared off with Louis “Put The Guns Down” Taylor (12-3) in a middleweight contest at WSOF32, live on NBCSN from XFINITY Arena in Everett, Wash. on Saturday, July 30.
Hawes started the round light and active, trying to land shots and takedown attempts. But in response, Taylor, the man with more experience, only felt the need to throw when necessary and when he did it was effective. He stood in front of Hawes the entire fight before finding his perfect opening during an exchange to take the middleweight down and wrap his arm around Hawes’ neck to ensure a smooth guillotine finish.
