Days prior to the UFC's first event in Sweden it was announced that the organisation is giving its backing to the newly-created International Mixed Martial Arts Federation. Chaired by Mr August Wallen, the Federation is a non-profit body which aims to aid the creation of a regulated amateur and professional system internationally, tidying up the 'wild west' that MMA is in many unregulated countries. It will be a labour of years but Wallen is very serious and very passionate; aside from making the sport safer and more recognised he is also hoping that the Federation can help have MMA included in the Olympics in some form. This is quite a long interview but the IMMAF could have a serious impact on the sport's long-term future and international standing, so it is worth getting yourself up to speed.
