Two times in a row now with a title shot just within his grasp, Evans has suffered injuries that have put on on the sidelines and out of the championship contender status he earned. The latest forced Evans to turn down a fight with former teammate and current rival Jon Jones at UFC 140 in December. According to UFC President Dana White, Evans wants to stay busy and will look to take another fight when his injured hand is healed and ready to go. White also admits that the light heavyweight title picture starts to get a little muddy because nothing is guaranteed who's next after Lyoto Machida gets his shot in Dec.

Even though he's not guaranteed a title shot with a win at UFC 136, Melvin Guillard knows his time is going to come soon enough.

As focused as he's ever been, Guillard has a tough test ahead of him facing Joe Lauzon at UFC 136, but he also knows that if he makes a statement in this fight, anything is possible.

Guillard also takes time to discuss his recent training where he's split time between his camp at Jackson's in New Mexico and the Blackzilian team in Florida.

Brian Stann knows that Chael Sonnen is a great wrestler with amazing grappling and tremendous takedowns.

For that very reason, Stann understands it might be tough to win a decision if he allows Sonnen to dictate the pace of their fight at UFC 136.

To counteract that, Stann says he will look to hurt and finish Sonnen every, single time he decides to shoot in and try to take the fight to the ground.

The former Marine also discusses his hopes of fighting for the UFC middleweight title, and his expectations heading into Saturday night.

There's a lot of talk about Melvin Guillard getting a title shot if he wins at UFC 136, but there's an obstacle in his way, and that is Joe Lauzon.

Always tough to deal with, Lauzon respects the run that Guillard has put together of late, but also believes that heading into their fight, his opponent is looking past him a bit.

Lauzon is happy to slip under the radar however because he's confident that he can beat Guillard and steal some of the thunder he's gathered over the last couple of years.

Lauzon also takes a minute to pay tribute to Apple founder Steve Jobs, who passed away on Wednesday. Lauzon is a self admitted Mac fan and admirer, and he might even throw in a little tribute on Saturday night should he beat Melvin Guillard.

When Kenny Florian steps into the cage at UFC 136, it will be his third chance to bring home UFC gold since his debut on the first season of the 'Ultimate Fighter'.

Coming into the fight, Florian has heard it all. He chokes in big fights, he can't step up to the competition and he didn't deserve a shot at Jose Aldo.

The fact is Florian doesn't listen to any of it because he knows he's earned his place and he's ready to go out and prove that when he faces Aldo with the UFC featherweight title on the line.

As a champion, Jose Aldo's job is to fight the best competition in the world and defend his UFC featherweight belt.

Coming off his last win at UFC 129 over Mark Hominick, Aldo believed Chad Mendes would be his next opponent, but the UFC opted to give him Kenny Florian instead.

While the move was somewhat surprising to the champion, Aldo is more than happy to face Florian on Saturday night in Houston, and hopefully take some of his fans and recognition at the same time.

UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar has been eating, sleeping and thinking about nothing but Gray Maynard for almost a year now and he's sick of it.

Edgar went to a draw with Maynard in their fight back in January, then in May injuries forced both fighters to delay their inevitable rematch.

Now the fight just hours away, Edgar is to the breaking point where he's ready to finish this trilogy with Maynard and move on.

The UFC's top lightweight also talks a little 'Jersey Shore' after becoming friends with some of the cast recently. more

A lot of people believe that Chad Mendes should be the fighter facing Jose Aldo at UFC 136 in Houston on Saturday night.

Count Mendes as one of those people.

Unfortunately, the timing didn't work out for Mendes to get the fight with Aldo, so he will sit front and center on Saturday night and watch Kenny Florian take a shot at the champion instead.

MMAWeekly.com caught up with Mendes prior to the fight where he made his prediction on the match-up, and how he believes that no matter who wins at UFC 136, he wants the winner plain and simple.

HOUSTON - MMAWeekly.com was on the scene at the Toyota Center on Friday where UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and challenger Gray Maynard hit the scales in the main event of UFC 136.

This will be the third time Edgar and Maynard have squared off, and they are both hoping to settle the score once and for all.

The co-main event features a featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and former lightweight contender Kenny Florian. Both Aldo and Florian sounded confident following the weigh-ins for their championship bout Saturday night.

In addition to the main and co-main events, middleweight badboy Chael Sonnen returns to action this weekend to face Marine veteran Brian Stann, while lightweight contender Melvin Guillard hopes to prove his title worth when he faces Joe Lauzon.

Vitor Belfort is coming back from an injury, but he wants to fight at UFC 141 and he's hoping to get the winner of Chael Sonnen and Brian Stann.

MMAWeekly.com caught up with Belfort at the UFC Fan Expo where he says that his leg is healed up and he'll be back in training this Monday and wants to fight on the year end card.

As far as who he wants to fight, Belfort wants the winner of the upcoming fight between Brian Stann and Chael Sonnen because he wants to get back into the title picture.

Belfort has some very interesting things to say in particular to UFC middleweight Chael Sonnen, who has made talking about Brazil almost like a second job.

Looking at his career record, Belfort isn't overly impressed with what Belfort has been able to accomplish, outside of running his mouth.

"Chael Sonnen is trying to talk all of that to promote because he's a boring fighter," said Belfort. "He doesn't knock anybody out. What's more
