The fighters traded strikes in and out of the clinch before Hanna got it to the mat to work GNP until the action slowed and the referee stood the fighters. After a punching exchange the fighters clinched and Hanna again got a takedown to work GNP until the bell ended the round. Round two had hard striking from each before Hanna got it to the mat and again controlled position and worked GNP that opened a cut on Guerra that the Dr. was called in to check. The cut did not warrant a stoppage and the fight continued with Hanna scoring a takedown and finishing the round on top working strikes. Round three saw Guerra striking hard before Hanna took it to the mat. On the ground Hanna worked to improve his position and after scrambling he took back control, set in the body triangle and closed off the RNC for the submission victory at 2:10 of round three.
