Josh Barham is a brand new blue belt at the Certified Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Training Center in Williamsburg, Virginia. On February 24, 2016, the electricity throughout much of Williamsburg went out due to a Tornado, and when Josh got home from jiu-jitsu class, he was violently attacked in the dark under very unusual circumstances. In this special edition breakdown, Josh and his instructor, John Nguyen, take you through the incident step-by-step, so you can learn from his experience. It's important to note that that there is no sportive sparring in the Gracie Combatives program. Instead, all the initial training is based on "Fight Simulation Drills" in which your training partner simulates the strikes and attack patterns of a street fight opponent, which are VERY different than the movement patterns of another jiu-jitsu trained individual. So the questions is, if Josh had spent all his beginner training time rolling without any street fight striking considerations, would he have been equal
