"Big" John McCarthy may be known as the best "third man in the cage" in the history of MMA, but he once had another gig -- as a member of the LAPD. The son of SWAT team legend Ron McCarthy, Big John worked the mean streets of Hollywood for 23 years, during which time he took on some of the department's most dangerous assignments. Then, on April 29, 1992, the L.A. riots broke out and "Big" John was faced with a choice: follows his captain's orders and stay inside the station, or grab his gun and help out a fellow officer involved in a shooting. Guess what the young cop decided to do. Produced and directed by Matthew Ross. Camera: Rick Lee. Assistant Camera: Diego Helguero and Anthony Williams. Edit: Ashley Cahill and Ryan Jackson-Healy. Music: Jacques Brautbar.
