This weekend, The Fight Nerd was at New York Comic Con 2011, and unfortunately for me, MMA related things were hard to come by due to a variety of reasons. However, fate intervened while I was wandering around the floor, as I ran into Dan Caldwell AKA Punkass from The TapouT crew! Dan and I nerded it up and discussed his own personal nerdom and his epic toy collection, then chatted about MMA including his pick for Jon Jones VS Lyoto Machida at UFC 140 and what he thinks is next for Kenny Florian.

The Fight Nerd treks to New York Combat Sambo in midtown Manhattan to test out another piece of equipment, this time the air-release style head gear from Fight Gear, which was given to us by EliteMMA.com. Sambo Steve put these helmets to the ringer with MMA style sparring and kickboxing to see how well they absorbed blows, as well as to test how comfortable and how easy they are to wear. For $90, did this headgear hold up or did it get knocked out of the competition? more

The Fight Nerd caught up with Alistair Overeem at the Strikeforce New York Press Conference to get his predictions on what would happen in the epic heavyweight grand prix, thoughts on fighting Fabricio Werdum again, his response to all the fighters I interviewed seeing him in the finals, and what's up with Japanese MMA. Then I go too far and ask more about Japan which forces "The Reem" to almost melt my spine with his laser beam eyes. This is why you don't interview fighters who have an empty stomach -- they just might eat you! I also nerd out and give Alistair one of my classic Fight Nerd "Art of Fighting" shirts, which are still available for $25 shipped in the US if you email me (since I am too lazy to add a store function). more

Back in March, 2011, I went to the UFC 128 weigh-ins in Newark, New Jersey. Before those got started, a special UFC Fight Club event was happening (for Fight Club members only), which was a question and answer session with Chuck Liddell. "The Iceman" had just recently retired only a few months earlier, and this was probably the first time he did an event like this since then.

Unfortunately, back when I filmed it, my old camera was starting to die, so this footage never made it online. Recently, I was able to recover it and get it to work, so I am now uploading it for you in five chunks.

In Part one, Mike Goldberg introduces the Q & A event and Chuck Liddell, who chats a bit about life after fighting (Chuck mentions already misses fighting) and the good ole' days of UFC. After that, we get into the questions from the fans, including how Chuck decides to fight specific opponents (ie. Tito Ortiz), his breakdown of Shogun VS Jon Jones (the main event of UFC 128 that would take place a more

Back in March, 2011, I went to the UFC 128 weigh-ins in Newark, New Jersey. "The Iceman" had just recently retired only a few months earlier, and this was probably the first time he did an event like this since then.

In the third part, Chuck answers more fan questions, including what would he have done differently in his fight career, what his duties are behind the scenes for the UFC, what his charity activities are, thoughts on Alistair Overeem winning the Strikeforce heavyweight tournament, who hit Chuck the hardest, the possibility of Chuck's gym turning into a nationwide franchise, and if there was anyone else that Chuck wanted to fight before he retired, and more!

Plus, more from the obnoxious Brazilian reporter that kept talking and filming her own segment while this event was happening. more
