in this video I show the most basic defense for the Omoplata. There are a number of really great defenses but this one can be really nice when used correctly. Keep in mind that you are giving up your position when you decide to front roll. Although it is possible to get the top position on the other side, more than likely your opponent is going to come up on top. In this video I show my favorite escape from the Omoplata submission. This is a high percentage escape and can leave you in a great position when your opponent was feeling comfortable. The first step is to control the inside of your thigh. This will lock up your shoulder and your torso and usually give you enough time to post your free hand on the floor.
