Event Happening during a recreational basketball game Alliance Jiu-Jitsu MN " Self defense. EVERYTHING in BJJ comes back to self defense. From Rolls Gracie to Romero Jacare to Fabio Gurgel to Damian Hirtz to our newest white belt, every Alliance athlete learns self defense. Without the fundamental "soul" of jiu-jitsu you have nothing. One of our purple belts was recently sucker punched while playing basketball. A very basic and typical sequence ensued: Punch cover, clinch, headlock defense to the back and choke. When the attacker's friends intervene he transitions as necessary ending in a heel hook position. What are the lessons? Good BJJ is Good BJJ in any scenario. Violent altercations are unpredictable and very, very quick. Basketball is too violent. (note: There is some rough language. That is also a real part of violent altercations)" Video sent to GP by the owner of the footage, Brandon. watch video >>

TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) – Newly released New Mexico State Police dashcam video shows the moments when a man lead police on a car chase through miles of the northern mountains, then used martial arts training to take down an officer. The man, 27-year-old Shae Russell Nakai Blair was later arrested on a list of charges including battery of a peace officer, DWI, resisting arrest and more. But his arrest came nearly an hour after the chase began. The incident happened just before 7 p.m. on March 31, 2014. State police officer Todd Sibley began chasing Blair after clocking his black BMW going 93 miles-per-hour on Highway 68, south of Taos. The video shows that for around 15 minutes, Blair wouldn’t stop. Blair lead the officer through small highway roads around dozens of cars, through narrow bridges and gravel roads. Eventually, Blair pulled over on the side of the road in a large open area. Video shows Officer Sibley pull his car behind Blair’s only to find him already standing outside of the watch video >>

Robert Weeks says : "Blocking Jiu-Jitsu is going to require you to have experience with sprawling techniques as well as great footwork." We disagree with the choice of words used by Robert and his way of explaining on this subject. He is right when you read it like that!! but that is not all it takes to block someone's JiuJitsu. Here he is specifically talking about blocking JiuJitsu, but the technique shown here is Wrestling based! You would need more than this to know how to block JiuJitsu, if you could ever. It is important to not be fooled on What techniques can be used on what and on who! As professionals, it is important to not misguide beginners on the sport! watch video >>

Beyond blue belt, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu consists of hundreds of advanced techniques, all of which have been organized into a clearly defined, systematic curriculum called the Master Cycle. The Master Cycle is the most complete and comprehensive jiu-jitsu curriculum ever created and is available exclusively at GracieUniversity.com. The Master Cycle is broken down into three levels: purple belt, brown belt, and black belt. Advancement within each belt level requires successful completion of four stripe courses, each of which features 50-60 lessons which are divided into seven positional chapters. On the Blue Belt Stripe 2 Test DVD, Ryron and Rener explain the entire BBS2 testing process and they demonstrate all 190 technique variations that must be perfected for promotion consideration. The Six Drills The Blue Belt Stripe 2 (BBS2) Official Test consists of six drills: three Technical Drills and three full-resistance Sparring Drills. On the DVD, Ryron and Rener Gracie discuss the parameters o watch video >>

In jiu-jitsu, the black belt is where the real learning begins. After several years of rolling like every round is a death-match, the student gets a black belt and realizes (far too late) that no one is keeping score. At that point, he begins to relax and roll in a way that focuses on progress over proof, emphasizing playfulness over prowess. In the new Black Belt Breakdown video series our goal is to expose you to the tips, tricks, and techniques that were discovered by our black belt brothers (and sisters) from around the world when they finally let their guard down and began "playing" jiu-jitsu. If you pay attention on the surface, you'll pick up some slick details to add to your arsenal, but if you observe the lessons on a deeper level, you will recognize an underlying training philosophy shared by all black belts that, if adopted, will increase your rate of progress unlike anything else. Our first guest, Alex Stuart, is a black belt certified instructor who teaches full tim watch video >>

**WARNING** Graphic Language and Content. We do NOT condone or support street fighting. Specially hits to the head like in this video. This is to show how things can "get real" in the streets. These two men seem to know some form of Self defense, JiuJitsu, Grappling. The fight ended in both parties agreeing to stop the fight and walk away too unhurt. They stop when the person filming calls "PARAO" which means STOP Location: Favelas in Brazil. Please, do NOT fight or start a fight if you don't need to. Only use what you know in order to defend yourself and do not get yourself into some kind of trouble if it can be avoided. watch video >>
