Bixente is laughing at the beginning because he is saying: "He is a monster, I am telling you he is a freaking monster!!" He is telling the guys: " He should not get angry.." "Take it easy with me ok?..." Toquinho is reassuring him saying:" It's Okay " They perform the move... Bixente then says: "this is where it hurts huh..." laughing. During my 6 months stay in Phuket, Thailand, I caught a nasty staph infection on my foot. Even though I disinfected even the tiniest little cut or bruise on my skin directly after training I still got it. These multi-resistent bacteria must not be underestimated. They like warm weather as much as we do. Add some humidity and these motherfuckers will always be found where people and sweat meet. As the doctors realized that antibiotics alone won’t work they decided to drain it. I was lucky enough that Thailand got a good medical system. One more day on a deserted island and I would be hopping on just one leg… or not at all. I lost 6 weeks of valuable training time. What looks kinda funny in this video was the most painful thing I’ve experienced in my life so far. 3 days after the doctor has drained it, you can see him using sharp tweezers to clean the wound by scraping out pus and dead tissue from the whole in my foot. I’m making these Jim Carrey faces to avoid screaming like a school watch video >>

In this video I show my number 1 Side Control escape. The more that I use this, the more that I like it. The hand positioning, hip movement and pressure with your arms is VERY important and if you miss one of these pieces this move can fall apart. There is a very real danger as you learn this move of being Arm Triangled. As you get better with this move, that threat almost completely disappears. Your hand grip on the bicep of the crossfacing arm helps relieve a lot of pressure and allows you a chance to get some body angle. Make sure to watch the video to see exactly how I trap that arm. Once you have controlled that bicep and bought yourself a little wiggle room you will reach up and over the back. The hand will grab the belt and your elbow will be tight against the base of the neck/head and in line with the spine. The placement of this hand is VERY important. If you have this spacing incorrect one of two very bad things are going to happen to you. Either you'll get A watch video >>

In this video I show a way to turn someone over when they are in the Turtle position. Being a large grappler I sometimes run into people that like to stall in Turtle. Being able to institute movement, create openings and advance my position is very important, but can be difficult. Especially when your opponent is large and heavy. This move can be a really great way to turn them over and do all of those things. It's important that your opponent be more or less stationary, or you can really stretch them out with that head and arm grip. Either way, you need a tight control over the upper body before doing this move. It's a simple and easy transition that can lead to a top position. The ending position is going to differ depending on what your opponent does when they get turned over. Best case scenario you end in mount, worst case you end in a version of guard. Make sure to watch my technique video for "Break Dance" as it is a great transition when your opponent tries to g watch video >>
