The Fight Nerd loves two things -- comics and MMA. Any chance he gets to combine the two is like the chocolate syrup on a sundae. Better known as a boxing emcee, Joe Antonacci recently obtained the rights to publish "Joe Palooka," a new incarnation of a character originally debuted in the 1930's, and was featured in more than 900 newspapers around the world. Now, a new version is being prepared to debut next year officially and instead of boxing, the character will become an MMA fighter. The Fight Nerd spoke with Antonacci about this new comic and the surprising directions the revived character is taking, as well as the involvement of real fighters in the books, and how the company is planning on working with fighters in other organizations to promote themselves. watch video >>
