You asked for it and here it is. In the main event of the evening, knockout artist Patricky "Pitbull" and once-beaten Lloyd "Cupcake" Woodard proved that they have more in common than decision losses to Bellator Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler -- They both are two of the most exciting fighters in the world. Both lightweights put on a performance that had the Laredo crowd on their feet. A back-and-forth affair, both competitors landed solid shots that did damage to their opponent. For former American Olympic Judo team member Rick Hawn, the question going into his Season 6 Lightweight Quarterfinal fight with Ricardo Tirloni was how effective he would be in his first trip to 155 pounds. The answer was clear. With both men exchanging early in the opening round, Hawn appeared to be the aggressor as he stalked Tirloni and forced him against the cage. Tirloni was able to land some clean leg kicks that certainly impressed the Laredo crowd. However, the power of Hawn proved to be too much for Tirloni midway through the first round as he landed a right hand behind the ear of the Brazilian that sent him crashing to the canvas. After a barrage of strikes, the fight was stopped at 2:36 of the opening round. Bellator MMA lightweight champion Will Brooks spoke with The Fight Nerd earlier this week at the Bellator MMA Press Event in New York City about his newly won title and what is ahead for him in the promotion. Brooks tells us about his excitement in becoming the champ and defeating Michael Chandler en route to get that interim title (and how fast it all happened), and comments on Eddie Alvarez saying that his belt is just a trophy and is not the real thing. Brooks also talks about plans to unify his title with Alvarez, but is unsure what is going with Eddie and whether or not he will stay in the company. Plus, Will discusses the recent change in power at Bellator MMA with Bjorn Rebney exiting the company and Scott Coker taking over, and tells us a bit more about his personal struggles coming up in the world that helped drive him to succeed and keep moving forward. more

The Fight Nerd spoke with Tito Ortiz at a Bellator MMA Press Event in NYC, and gave us his thoughts on a variety of topics in the fight world. In part one of this two-part interview, "The People's Champ" gives us a little insight on his lawsuit with John Ibarra (as much as he is allowed to tell us without getting himself into any trouble), and talks about his comeback fight against Alexander Shlemenko and the negative criticism he took while fighting a natural middleweight in a light-heavyweight bout. Ortiz also tells us that he still wants to fight Rampage and that he thinks Rampage definitively beat King Mo in their match at Bellator 120, and why he has zero interest in fighting King Mo. Plus, Tito talks about Bjorn Rebney's departure from the promotion and what he hopes Scott Coker will do to make Bellator a better place for fans and fighters alike, and who he would like to see Bellator pick up to add to their growing roster. more

The Fight Nerd caught up with Quinton "Rampage" Jackson at a recent Bellator MMA event, and he had plenty to say about current events in the combat sports world. In the first part of this interview,we talked a bit about his fight with King Mo and if he wants a rematch, as well as if the two could ever bury the hatchet once and for all. We also discuss whether a fight with Tito Ortiz is still in the cards for Bellator fans, and if he has his eyes set on any other opponents in the promotion. Rampage also talks about how he heard about the news that Bjorn Rebney was done with Bellator and was replaced with former Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker, and reveals that Bjorn did not live up to his end of the bargain when it came to certain big things, and what Rampage hopes Coker can accomplish in his new role in the company. more
