What is an MMA superfight? Is it one that crosses over promotional barriers, like Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva? Is it one that involves champions defying weight classes, as BJ Penn and Georges St-Pierre once did? Is it one that spans generations, like Matt Hughes vs. Royce Gracie? Is it one that captures the imaginations of people outside the exclusive sphere of MMA fandom, like Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier? Who's to say? Either way, 2015 is a year where numerous incredibly interesting figh read news >>

This past Friday, Legacy Kickboxing put on their inaugural event. How did it go? Find out right here, along with full results and video highlights. It was a busy weekend in the combat sports world. Between Conor McGregor's ongoing ascension and Deontay Wilder reclaiming Heavyweight boxing glory for the US, there was much to watch and much to take in. But for my money, the big highlight of the weekend was the inaugural show of a very promising organization - Legacy Kickboxing. Legacy has been pro read news >>

Voting is closed and the results are in for the Bloody Elbow 2014 Year-End awards. The BE 2014 Year-End Awards are in the bank. Sorry about them dragging out for so long - such is the nature of 10,000 UFC events a year. I changed up the awards a bit this year, and will probably add some different stuff for the half-year awards for 2015 as well. If you would like a new category, or don't like one of the current ones, mention it in the comments. And yes, the "Biggest Loser" one will definitely be read news >>

Another year, another edition of the notorious "5 Prospects the UFC Should Sign" series. We as MMA fans are a little older and a little wiser. We're getting accustomed to more and more MMA popping up in the mainstream. It wasn't long ago that the UFC and Bellator were seemingly the only options on TV. Now, in addition to the UFC being featured on the Fox networks and Bellator on Spike TV, CBS Sports has Titan Fighting Championship and NBC Sports has World Series of Fighting, among other things. read news >>

Remember last year when Joe Soto took a title fight with TJ Dillashaw on 24 hours notice? This time the weight cut isn't to blame, and it's not the main event of the evening, but some MMA fans will feel deja vu all the same. In the most bizarre of circumstances, Brian Cobb was injured on a treadmill the day before the weigh-in, and pulled out of the co-main event of WSOF 17 "Shields vs. Foster" due to a blown knee. The glitch in the matrix comes courtesy of lightweight prelim fighter Joe Condon, read news >>

By most accounts, MMA didn't see its best year in 2014. For the first time in a long time, the sport had to march forth without any of its biggest stars. Anderson Silva was mending his broken leg. Georges St-Pierre was taking a leave of absence. Brock Lesnar was busy making history elsewhere, pinning the Undertaker under the WrestleMania lights for the first time in The Deadman's storied pro wrestling career. Even the stars who fought in their stead couldn't remain healthy enough to carry the lo read news >>

It seems the new year has done little to curb 2014's injury woes. Ronaldo Souza was forced to withdraw from his middleweight contendership fight against Yoel Romero at UFC 184 due to a bout of pneumonia, the UFC announced late Thursday night. As a result, Souza vs. Romero has been scratched from the Feb. 28 card entirely and will be rescheduled for a later date. A lightweight bout pitting TUF 13 winner Tony Ferguson against Yancy Medeiros will replace the postponed fight's spot on UFC 184's pay- read news >>

Make your pick for the best fight of 2014 in Bloody Elbow's Year-End Awards. It seems that Mookie has officially quit BE and has started a new career as a dancing cow, so won't be able to handle the awards this time around. In his place, is...well, me. Contain your joy. Over the next few days, Bloody Elbow is going to ask for your opinion on some of the best (and worst) things that have happened in the MMA world over the course of 2014. As was expected with the buildup, UFC 182 was the most successful event for the company since UFC 168, with early cable estimates of the show headlined by Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier for the UFC light heavyweight title coming in at between 740,000 and 820,000 pay-per-view buys. The number was more impressive given it went head-to-head with the Baltimore Ravens vs. Pittsburgh Steelers NFL playoff game that drew 28 million viewers, and both the NFL and UFC strongly hit the adult male demographic. read news >>
