Apparently not. UFC just went full Bellator. That's according to longtime welterweight contender Matt Brown, who's still scratching his head over the promotion's decision to sign former professional wrestler Phil Brooks (more on that here). Brown, who battles Strikeforce import Tarec Saffiedine in February (details), expects the rest of the keyboard army to sit up and take notice when "CM Punk" gets demolished. From the MMA Great Debate podcast (via MMA Fighting): "I thought the sport, the UFC, read news >>

Johny Hendricks and Las Vegas judges apparently just don't get along. A little over a year after Hendricks dropped a controversial split decision to then-champion Georges St-Pierre, history repeated itself at UFC 181 as Hendricks faded late and lost another controversial split decision, this time to hand over his UFC welterweight title to Robbie Lawler. "I say to these guys all the time: don't leave it in the hands of these judges," UFC President Dana White said of the decision on FOX Sports 1. read news >>

The UFC is apparently set to make a big splash in Melbourne next year. The Daily Telegraph in Australia is reporting that the UFC will debut in the city on Nov. 15, 2015 at Etihad Stadium, which holds north of 50,000 people. UFC stars like Jon Jones, Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor are all being considered to headline what would be UFC 193, according to the paper. The event has not been made official by the UFC. The Telegraph reported that it will likely be announced in the coming weeks. UFC off read news >>

Apparently UFC light heavyweight champ and pound-for-pound kingpin Jon Jones believes in superstition—particularly when it pertains to his pre-fight rituals. "I would never bring my belt out to the cage," Jones said to a group of reporters (per MMAFighting.com) at the UFC's "The Time is Now" news conference on Nov. 17. "Bones" further detailed his superstitious ways, telling those on hand at the media event that it began when he took the belt from Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC 128 in March 2011. read news >>

Apparently, "The Magician" is an equal opportunity ass kicker. John Dodson was on the path to another shot at the flyweight title before a devastating knee injury derailed his championship dreams and sent him to the sidelines for over a year. After undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL, "The Magician" now faces an uphill battle in rehab as he aims to return to the Octagon sometime in 2015. And when he does, he's ready to capture Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) gold. And as he explained to read news >>

A 7th defeat in 9 fights was apparently the straw that broke the camel's back, and now Paulo Thiago is no longer a UFC fighter. This is news that is perhaps unsurprising and openly welcomed. Paulo Thiago was once a darkhorse contender in the welterweight division, which was kick-started after he knocked out Josh Koscheck in 2009. But a noticeably sharp decline in performance led to a run of just 2 wins in his last 9 fights, and the Brazilian's days in the UFC are over. Globo's Ivan Raupp first b read news >>

Rising Polish lightweight Piotr Hallmann has apparently failed his post fight drug test after losing to Gleison Tibau. It's a bad time to be a steroid use in the UFC, it appears. It seems like, at a faster rate than ever, fighters are failing drug tests and getting suspended. The latest addition to that list is promising Polish fighter Piotr Hallmann. "Pletwal" recently dropped a split decision to ever strong gatekeeper Gleison Tibau. Hallmann is noted for being a pretty exceptionally big lightw read news >>
