There's no title on the line Saturday in the main event of UFC 153, despite a champion fighting in it.
And because one of the fighters wasn't being universally regarded as a title contender, legions of fans and critics went on the offensive when the UFC announced a non-title fight between middleweight champion Anderson Silva and light heavyweight Stephan Bonnar.
But UFC President Dana White just doesn't understand the outcry over the fight booking.

Dana White was so aggravated with the steady pace of fan gripes that he got a little bit off on a tangent.
When asked in Toronto why he thinks fans were down on the Anderson Silva-Stephan Bonnar fight at UFC 153, White was reminded of fan negativity in general and never quite got around to Silva-Bonnar.
But in Nottingham, England, he had an answer, and that answer was this: "There's nothing wrong with having a fun fight."

LAS VEGAS - UFC president Dana White held his annual Fan Expo question-and-answer session with the fans on Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. As usual, the event was a mix of the serious, the less serious, and the absurd, ranging from detailed questions about the company's business to painful-to-watch attempts at business pitches. One thing the UFC boss did indicate, however, is that he could very well by on the same wavelength as the fans who want the much-discussed potential Ander read news >>

Because it could be the only way to get Nick Diaz back inside the Octagon. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White once said an Anderson Silva vs. Nick Diaz "super fight" makes no sense and will never happen. Then again, that was 2012, when "The Spider" was still king of the 185-pound mountain and Diaz was still an active welterweight. Fast-forward to 2014 and the Brazilian is mending a broken leg on the heels of two losses and his Stockton counterpart is retired. But there is read news >>

"I think that's a very interesting fight," said UFC president Dana White during yesterday's UFC 174 pre-fight media scrum. The UFC president had nothing bad to say about a bout between Anderson Silva, the former Middleweight champ most consider to be the greatest of all time (GOAT) and Nick Diaz, the former Strikeforce and Elite XC star who is refusing to return to UFC action unless it is for a truly big money fight. Silva is out for the remainder of 2014 after breaking his shinbone in his unsuc read news >>

UFC bought PRIDE, landed a FOX deal and created its own digital network. Surely they can find a way to get Cris Cyborg into the Octagon? Gina Carano? Holly Holm? Pffffft. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has a couple of in-house contenders breathing down her neck. One of them is the Alexis Davis, 3-0 since transitioning to the Octagon. The other is Cat Zingano, who earned her crack at the crown prior to her knee injury in 2013. We knew it was happening, now we know when. Kinda-sorta. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will ask Jon Jones to defend his light heavyweight title against surging division No. 1 contender Anthony Johnson this spring, after "Rumble" punched his ticket -- by punching Alexander Gustafsson -- just last week in Stockholm, Sweden. "We're looking to do that fight in May," White told Jim Rome (via FOX Sports). "I don't have the exact date, but May." Jones jumped out to an early betting favorite. Whi read news >>
The UFC on Fox 14 main event between Anthony "Rumble" Johnson and Alexander Gustafsson was billed as a top contender's match to decide the next in line to face light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. While UFC executives are often quick to renege on those promises, the UFC is being good to its word...for now, at least. UFC President Dana White took to Twitter immediately after the fight: This is a scary man!! @anthony_rumble vs jonnybones for @ufc LHW title http://t.co/XoGTpMd4ft — Dana White (@da read news >>

"I think Ben Henderson won. Cowboy looked like he couldn't get off tonight, like he couldn't pull the trigger. That was my perception watching the fight. I say this all the time and I will say it again: If you don't want to be disappointed, take it out of the hands of the judges. There's nothing else to say, it happens all the time." Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White believes former lightweight champion Ben Henderson was the better fighter at UFC Fight Night 59 (full resu read news >>
UFC president Dana White is not sure if Jon Jones is addicted to cocaine. But he believes there must be some issue if Jones is engaging in recreational drug use less than a month before a massive fight. "My thing is whether you have a problem with street drugs or not, you say you don't have a problem, there's definitely something wrong if you're doing that three weeks before the biggest fight of your life," White said on The Jim Rome Showon Thursday.
