A request to drop UFC fighter Nick Diaz's suspension was denied today in a Nevada district court, which clears the way for a hearing on the disciplinary complaint filed against him in February.
Judge Rob Bare ruled that while the NSAC technically violated state statutes by not conducting the hearing within 45 days of Diaz's initial suspension, the fighter needs to appear before the commission before a judge intervenes.
The NSAC now will hear Diaz's case on May 21.

See the full fight between Nick Diaz and B.J. Penn from October 29th, 2011 at UFC 137 in Las Vegas, Nevada. By the time Nick Diaz steps into the cage on January 31st, 2015, it will have been roughly 3 1/4 years since his last win. Of course, his most fervent supporters will argue "Diaz 1, 2, and 5" for his loss to Carlos Condit and "Diaz, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5" in his 50-45 x3 defeat to Georges St-Pierre, but the results still stand. It was the last time Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight Nick Diaz tasted victory, but it was oh-so-sweet. After two consecutive losses and an extended vacation, Diaz will return to the cage next month in Las Vegas, Nevada, to try to get his groove back -- at middleweight -- against the surgically-repaired Anderson Silva.
