There is something wonderful about being a fight fan during the times when a new voice, such as Conor McGregor's, comes out, loud and unafraid, predicting greatness at the expense of all others. That is not to say that trash talk is the be-all and end-all, because it's not. But when a fighter comes out, loud and proud, then like it or not, he's attracting attention to the sport, and with the attention comes greater pay-per-view numbers and money. In short, it's good for business, and it's exciti read news >>

There was plenty of entertainment to be had during Saturday night's MMA tripleheader, where UFC 180, Bellator 131 and WSOF 15 all fought for fight fans' attention. The UFC put together a decent event but gave little reinforcements to surround a solid heavyweight tilt between Fabricio Werdum and Mark Hunt. Bellator, meanwhile, mobilized as many of its big-name fighters as possible. One of those big names was the heavy-handed Melvin Manhoef. One of the hardest hitters in modern MMA, he has develop read news >>

If fan interest is any indication, Super Saturday was a big success. No one will know anything for sure until the final viewing estimates roll in, but at a glance it seems UFC 180, Bellator 131 and World Series of Fighting 15—all three promotions competing head to head for the first time—yielded some nice dividends for combat sports lovers. At UFC 180, Fabricio Werdum landed a flying knee on Mark Hunt to take the interim heavyweight title and partially redeem an otherwise lackluster card. Bellat read news >>

If you're a fan of first-round finishes, then UFC 180 was a dream card. The UFC's maiden voyage to Mexico featured four straight fights that didn't see the second round before crowning a new interim heavyweight champion. The excitement didn't stop when a fight finally made it out of the first frame, either. As expected, Mark Hunt and Fabricio Werdum put on an exciting show for the interim heavyweight championship, with Vai Cavalo emerging as the winner thanks to a well-timed flying knee. Fabricio Werdum stopped fan favorite Mark Hunt with strikes in the second round to become the UFC interim heavyweight title at UFC 180. Mark Hunt and Fabricio Werdum met tonight at UFC 180 in the UFC interim heavyweight title fight, a sentence few expected to ever type/read in 2014. Early in the bout Hunt landed a right that knocked Werdum down, but didn't have him hurt much at all. When Werdum rose to his feet, Hunt charged with a flurry but was unable to land anything of serious consequence. H read news >>

Fan favorite Augusto Montano gave the crowd in Mexico City at UFC 180 what they wanted, dispatching Chris Heatherly with an onslaught of knees in the first round of their main card bout. Heatherly was able to secure the takedown early and after shucking off a Montano armbar attempt, passed to side control. But Montano faked him out, showing he was going to half guard, but rolled out the opposite way. The two eventually clinched along the fence with the bigger Montano being the aggressor.
