Welcome to episode 123 of the Promotional Malpractice Live Chat. The UFC's banner month continues as we transition out of UFC on FOX 14 and into UFC 183, a pay-per-view event that features a main event between Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz. This bout has been labeled as everything between a superfight and a tune-up fight (for Silva). Strangely, it feels as delightfully saccharine as it is legitimate: the winner could get a title shot in either weight class. This is an anticipated main event, but read news >>

Welcome to episode 122 of the Promotional Malpractice Live Chat. What a weird time it is in the sport, right? On the one hand, the UFC is putting their best foot forward with their best content available. They gave us a huge grudge match in Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier, a showcase of rising sensation Conor McGregor, high-end title eliminator in Alexander Gustafsson vs. Anthony Johnson and a semi-superfight with Nick Diaz vs. Anderson Silva later on. There's nothing about that that's bad. Yet, th read news >>

Welcome to episode 121 of the Promotional Malpractice Live Chat. This is a huge weekend if you're a true combat sports fan. We all know there's UFC Fight Night: McGregor vs. Siver on Sunday. On Saturday, there's WSOF 17. On Friday, Bellator 132 kicks off on Spike TV. There's filler on all three cards, but good fights as well: Donald Cerrone vs. Benson Henderson, Patricio Freire vs. Daniel Straus, and Jake Shields vs. Brian Foster, to name a few. That's also not all. Showtime is putting together read news >>

Welcome to episode 120 of the Promotional Malpractice Live Chat. It's never simple with Jon Jones, is it? He puts on what I'd classify as a fairly dominating performance against Daniel Cormier at UFC 182 only for news to break late Tuesday that he'd failed a December 4th drug test ordered by the NSAC. Jones tested positive for cocaine metabolites. He's since checked himself into rehab. That's news enough, but it gets weirder. The NSAC had the results on December 23rd, long before his January 3rd read news >>

Welcome to episode 119 of the Promotional Malpractice Live Chat. This is it. The very last live chat of this year. And what better what to end this year than be discussing what could not only be an historic bout in UFC history, but one that kicks off the new year right? That, of course, is Jon Jones defending his UFC light heavyweight title against Daniel Cormier, which serves as the headlining bout of UFC 182. The rest of the card has a few intriguing bouts, but none quite like this. I actually read news >>

Welcome to episode 118 of the Promotional Malpractice Live Chat. Well, that's it. It's the last live chat of the year. That means we should take a look back at the biggest, weirdest, most wonderful and worst stories of the year. That's everything from the return of Cat Zingano to the Reebok deal to War Machine and much more. In more contemporary news, former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz is likely out for the year with another ACL injury, this time to his right leg (the previous two tears read news >>

Welcome to episode 117 of the Promotional Malpractice Live Chat. UFC on FOX 13 took place on Saturday. The Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale came and went on Friday of last week. Theywere big stories. I'm sure you have questions about them. I'll answer as many as I can. Yet, I'd be disingenuous if I said these were the leading stories in the sport. They're big and we'll get to them, but it's not the most pressing matter. As you've heard by now, three (some of them former) fighters - Jon Fitch, Nate Qua read news >>

Welcome to episode 116 of the Promotional Malpractice Live Chat. Quite a weekend in mixed martial arts, wasn't it? Top prospects stood out at RFA 21 and Invicta 10, but the real action took place at UFC 181. Robbie Lawler finally fulfilled the promise of his career by claiming the welterweight title on Saturday night. I scored the bout for Johny Hendricks, but am entirely sympathetic to the idea it could also be Lawler's fight. I don't think this is a judging scandal...with one exception. Anthon read news >>

Yesterday, the UFC and Reebok announced a new uniform and, as part of that, a new UFC uniform policy. Among a variety of other changes, Fighters won't be able to have their own sponsors as part of any official UFC activity, from fights to weigh-ins to 'Countdown' shows and much more. The changes won't go into effect until July of next year. In the meantime, there's a lot to unpack. We don't know what the final sum of money Reebok is offering and UFC claims they're only taking enough money from t read news >>

Never a shortage of topics, is there? It's the Wednesday after three mostly major events in the world of combat sports. Metamoris 5 took place on Saturday, with MMA stars Jake Shields and Rory MacDonald turning in respectable performances in their own right. There was a lackluster main event, but most of the card ended up having value. Manny Pacquiao defended his WBO welterweight title against Chris Algieri in Macau, China in what is one of the bigger boxing routes you'll see where someone doesn read news >>

Welcome to the Promotional Malpractice Live Chat, episode 113. Seriously, it's hard to know where to start with this given the amount of topics and issues going on in the sport. I suppose first and foremost would be actual fight results. UFC 180 saw Fabricio Werdum earn a version of UFC gold, Kelvin Gastelum cement himself as a true contender and Ricardo Lamas affirm himself as a top featherweight fixture. Bellator 131 produced sensational television ratings, crowned Will Brooks as the undispute read news >>
