In case you missed it, or just want to watch it again for reasons unexplained, here is the ho-hum affair between Ryan Bader and Phil Davis, which took place on the UFC on FOX 14 main card last Saturday night (Jan. 24, 2015) in Stockholm, Sweden. In a night filled with violent finishes (like this one), "Darth" needed a split decision to squeal by his fellow wrestler and garnered a few boos from the Swedish faithful in the process. Some fighters have all the trouble in the world getting recognition. First and foremost, I'll say that I'm using the word "contender" a bit loosely. Eventually any fighter who stays in the top ten for more than a few months in most divisions is, in some respects, a contender. Chris Cariaso is proof positive that being in the right place (ranked) at the right time (when everyone else is injured) can make the unlikeliest fighter a contender. As part of the UFC on FOX 14 main card, Ryan Bader and Phil Davis battled to an absolute stalemate for three rounds. They were dead even on a pretty uneventful bout, and Bader ended up taking a split decision victory. While the winning fighter on such a close bout certainly isn't really as controversial as let's say the recent Cathal Pendred vs. Sean Spencer travesty, it does read news >>

In case you hadn't heard, top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight contender Conor McGregor, who fights Jose Aldo later this year in Las Vegas, Nevada, can shut down an entire country. Turns out he can shut down FOX Sports 1, too. Not just because the cable television network cut out after the "Notorious" striker went full Nate Diaz and threw up the middle finger, but also because the Irish Muhammad Ali is expected to deliver the highest-rated and most-watched UFC event in channel read news >>

The first four fights are in the book at UFC Fight Night 59 in Boston, and three ended before the final horn. The UFC Fight Night 59 preliminary card might not have a ton of viewers due to a couple of NFL football games, but the early action was pretty good. The first bout went to a decision, but might stand up as the fight of the night when all is said and done. And the next three bouts all finished late finishes. In the opener, Joby Sanchez used power punched and some slick grappling to get by read news >>
