Chuck Vs. Rashad

Fights - UFC 88: Breakthrough was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on September 6, 2008 at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
The event was headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Chuck Liddell and Rashad Evans.
Entering the fight as a very heavy underdog, Evans shocked the world by knocking out former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell in brutal fashion. Liddell threw an uppercut that Evans countered with an overhand right, landing flush. Liddell remained unconscious for several minutes before finally walking out of the cage under his own power. The knockout was awarded knockout of the year by Sherdog for 2008.
At the time many fans and industry figures urged Liddell to retire, but he continued to fight on losing his next two bouts by first round knockout before eventually anouncing his retirement on December 29, 2010.
Liddell was visibly emotional at the announcement, acknowledging his retirement and an end to his fighting career with words of farewell: "Most of all I want to thank my fans and my family. I love this sport and I'm excited to go to this new stage in my life and keep promoting the best sport in the world, the sport I love... now that I'm retired.''
