He'll dominate until he fights someone who's he's equal on the ground, or until he gets knocked out by a good striker who isn't afraid to try to land power strikes when Askren shoots for the takedown. Too many strikers try to sprawl and brawl against him, when their takedown defence simply isn't good enough. They need to focus more on just throwing everything at his body. Too many fighters develop striking techniques and habits geared towards fighting another striker.
Aldo is an excellent example of a great mma striker. He has knocked out a number of top wrestlers as they were trying to shoot in on him, and he's done it in a lighter weight class where it's usually harder to knock people out. GSP is another fighter who has trained really effective techniques for combining striking and wrestling together, and he has defeated many opponents who were supposed to have better wrestling, better striking, or a better ground game because of it.

I also respect Ben Askren as a fighter. There's nothing wrong with focusing on what you're good at. He just seems like someone who will never be a dominant champion at the highest level unless he manages to learn to become a lot better at striking (and he might need to work on his submission game more as well)
