Yves Edwards-Yancy Medeiros added to UFC Fight Night 31: Fight for the Troops 3

A pair of lightweights looking to rebound from losses earlier this year will meet at the UFC’s next “Fight for the Troops” show.

Yves Edwards (42-20-1 MMA, 9-10 UFC) will meet Yancy Medeiros (9-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on the card at UFC Fight Night 31. UFC officials the new booking on Sunday.

UFC Fight Night 31 takes place Nov. 6 at Kentucky’s Fort Campbell. The bulk of the card is expected to air on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on Facebook. The placement of the Edwards-Medeiros fight is not known.

Edwards has dropped three of his past four fights, and two straight by split decision. In July at UFC on FOX 8, he lost a split call to Daron Cruickshank. In February at UFC 156, he came out on the short end against Isaac Vallie-Flagg. He had gotten back in the win column with a first-round “Knockout of the Night” win over Jeremy Stephens at UFC on FOX 5 in December 2012.

After starting his career 9-0, including two wins for Strikeforce, Medeiros debuted in the UFC in April against Rustam Khabilov. Medeiros fought at middleweight while in Strikeforce, but dropped two weight classes and 30 pounds for the fight with Khabilov. But when Khabilov scooped him up for a throw takedown, Medeiros injured his thumb and dislocation left him unable to continue, giving Khabilov a first-round TKO.
