World Series of Fighting 4 live and official weigh-in results

ONTARIO, Calif. – MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) was on scene and reporting live from today’s World Series of Fighting 4 fighter weigh-ins.

The festivities took place at Dave and Buster’s at Ontario Mills Mall in Ontario, Calif. Saturday’s event takes place at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario with a main card on NBC Sports Network following prelims that stream live at MMAjunkie.com.

The event is headlined by a light heavyweight bout between kickboxing standout Tyrone Spong (1-0) and Angel DeAnda (11-2). Both fighters made weight without issue, each registering 205 pounds on their first trip to the scale.

After making the bout official, DeAnda told event emcee Joey Varner he was “going to shock the world.” Meanwhile, ten-time world kickboxing champion Spong teased a new secret weapon in the fight but declined to offer any hints.

“We’ll see tomorrow,” Spong said.”

Also on the main card, surging bantamweight Marlon Moraes (10-4-1) takes on Brandon Hempleman (9-1), WSOF President Ray Sefo (2-1) meets Dave Huckaba (20-5), former XFC champion Nick Newell (9-0) fights Keon Caldwell (9-1) and Gesias Cavalcante (17-7-1) takes on UFC vet Tyson Griffin (16-6).

The prelims caused a few challenges for World Series of Fighting officials, as Jorge Santiago was 172.4 pounds on his first trip to the scale and was given two additional hours to make weight. He made weight on his second trip to the scale, hitting 170.2 pounds.

Meanwhile, Lew Polley never made the scales, as his pre-weigh was “significantly overweight” according to a World Series of Fighting official. Polley was ruled ineligible for the fight, and MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned that his opponent, Hans Stringer, was paid his show money.
