With Jerome Le Banner Injured, Marcin Rozalski to Face Rodney Glunder at Saturday’s KSW 20

An injury has once again prevented Jerome Le Banner from facing Marcin Rozalski.

Le Banner had been slated to appear Saturday at KSW 20 before recently aggravating a previous injury. Promotion officials revealed the news on Thursday morning, announcing that Le Banner would need to see a doctor before deciding whether to compete.

Though the promotion’s announcement states that the decision will not be made until tomorrow, Sherdog.com confirmed with a source close to the event that Rodney Glunder will now meet Rozalski (Pictured) in Le Banner’s stead.

KSW 20 takes place Sept. 15 at Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland, and is headlined by a light heavyweight title showdown between reigning champion Jan Blachowicz and UFC veteran Houston Alexander.

Le Banner was supposed to face Rozalski in the main event of KSW 18 back in February, but Le Banner was forced from the bout due to injury. A K-1 kickboxing staple for most of his career, Le Banner has competed just five times as a mixed martial artist, most recently dropping a unanimous decision to Satoshi Ishii on New Year’s Eve 2010.

Rozalski owns only four pro MMA appearances to his credit, falling in each of his last two outings. The Pole kicked off 2012 with a defeat to Le Banner's KSW 18 replacement, Valentijn Overeem, submitting to a heel hook courtesy of “The Python” before relinquishing a split decision to Russian Salimgirey Rasulov on May 26.

Glunder, like Le Banner, is a K-1 veteran. However, the Dutchman holds far more MMA experience, as he made his debut under mixed rules back in 1996. The 37-year-old owns 48 total fights to his credit but has lost seven of his last nine bouts, earning just one victory in the last five years. Glunder last competed in MMA in 2009, submitting to a Dion Staring kimura in the first round under the United Glory banner.
