Another change has hit the lone women’s fight on next week’s UFC 174 card in Canada.
Milana Dudieva (10-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is out of her bout against Valerie Letourneau (5-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC), and fellow UFC newcomer Elizabeth Phillips (4-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has signed on to make her promotional debut. UFC officials on Friday announced the change, but didn’t give a reason for Dudieva’s removal from the card.
Canada’s Letourneau originally was a replacement for Germaine de Randamie on the card, and now meets a replacement fighter, herself, on a little more than a week’s notice.
UFC 174 takes place June 14 at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. Letourneau vs. Phillips is slated for the FOX Sports 1-televised portion of the card.
Phillips may not be from Canada like Letourneau, but she’s in closer proximity to Vancouver with her base in Spokane, Wash., where she trains with UFC veterans Michael Chiesa, Sam Sicilia and “TUF 18? winner Julianna Pena. After a loss in her pro debut in 2012, Phillips has won four straight under the Washington-based Conquest of the Cage banner, including a victory just this past Friday.
Letourneau, 31, is based out of Montreal and makes her UFC debut on the strength of a recent 4-1 run. Although she went 1-2 to start her career, the losses came to notables Alexis Davis and Sarah Kaufman. Most recently, Letourneau earned a 34-second TKO of MMA newcomer Jordan Moore at a May 16 Absolute Fighting Championship event in Florida. She has five stoppages in five career wins. UFC fans may remember Letourneau from her brief appearance on “TUF 18,” where she suffered an elimination-round loss to Roxanne Modafferi.
Dudieva, a Russian import who began fighting professionally in 2009, was looking to build on the fast start to her MMA career, which saw her start 8-1 before slowing down to just 2-2 in her past four fights.
With the change, the new UFC 174 lineup includes:
MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view, 10 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (FOX Sports 1, 8 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (UFC Fight Pass, 7 p.m. ET)
