Will Campuzano Meets Steve Garcia for Vacant Flyweight Belt in Legacy FC 12 Headliner

Legacy Fighting Championship 12 now has a main event.

LFC promoter Mick Maynard Tuesday revealed that UFC veteran Will Campuzano is set to rematch Steve Garcia for the Texas-based promotion’s vacant flyweight title. LFC 12 takes place July 13 at Houston’s Arena Theater and also features a welterweight confrontation between Jay Hieron and Mike Bronzoulis. The event airs live on HDNet.

A three-time WEC veteran, 25-year-old Campuzano earned a split decision over Garcia in their 2010 meeting. Following the win, Campuzano was invited to compete for the UFC, where he lost back-to-back bouts against Nick Pace and Chris Cariaso. Most recently, Campuzano fought on April 8, earning a first-round submission victory over Randy Hinds in just 2:18.

Garcia also enters the cage on the heels of a win. The Texan knocked out Cody Williams at LFC 9 on Dec. 16 and holds six of his nine career wins by knockout or submission. Garcia’s only other fight of 2011 saw him fall by guillotine choke to Steven Peterson at LFC 8 in September.
