A welterweight matchup between Adlan Amagov (12-2-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and T.J. Waldburger (16-7 MMA, 4-2 UFC) has been added to the UFC 166 fight card.
UFC 166 takes place Oct. 19 at Toyota Center in Houston. The event’s main card, which features a rubber match between heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos, airs live on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and Facebook.
Amagov vs. Waldburger is expected to be part of the prelims.
Amagov makes his second UFC appearance following a decision win over Chris Spang in his promotional debut at UFC on FUEL TV 9. He went 3-1 under the now-defunct Strikeforce banner with wins over Ronald Stallings, Anthony Smith and Keith Berry. Notably, he fought to a draw with current Bellator light heavyweight champion Attila Vegh three years ago in 2010.
UFC veteran Waldburger returns after a submission victory over Nick Catone at The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale that earned him “Submission of the Night” honors. It was the second such award for the Texas native, who’s beaten lower-tier opposition but struggled against talent such as Johny Hendricks and Brian Ebersole. He’s won three of his past four fights.
Prior to his stint in the UFC, Waldburger claimed the Shark Fights welterweight championship and defended it once.
