Benavidez, a former bantamweight contender, will closely watch Saturday’s network-televised headliner between flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and challenger John Moraga. Benavidez, who’s ranked No. 2 behind Johnson in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie.com MMA flyweight rankings, could be up next for the winner if he gets by Jussier Formiga next week at UFC 163.
